 About the Site
Rebel With a Cause, is basically, a small fansite devoted to the cutest cartoon couple on the hit Saturday morning WB Kids show X-Men: Evolution. Who are, for the unaware, Lance Alvers and Kitty Pryde. To keep some interest level, though, the site is sprinkled with other Evo-related news for the non-relationshippers.
You may see the word "Lancitty" appear several times. Basically, it's the conjugation of "Lance and Kitty". (Sheer brilliance, isn't it?) So if you're a "Lancitty fan", it's a shortened way of saying you're a "Lance and Kitty fan". Unless you prefer to call yourself a "Kance" fan, which isn't half as interesting as "Lancitty." But I digress.
So, why was this site created? Because ever since I saw the second episode The X-Impulse, I thought the two of them were adorable together. And although Kurt was interesting, almost amusing with his crush on Kitty, episodes to come, such as Growing Pains, Joyride and The HeX Factor, waned me away from "Kurtty" (yep, you guessed it... Kurt and Kitty) and brought me closer to the Lance/Kitty factor.
And as I navigated the websites, I was almost disappointed to find few websites about Lance or Kitty, and even fewer with decent content. So while making screencaps of Joyride one day, wondering how anyone would even see those images one day, it struck me that I might as well create a small fansite and display all my unbridled enthusiasm there. And it stuck.
Wait a minute, you're thinking, I came here to find out about stuff. So... who the heck is this Lance and this Kitty?
They are, quite simply, the modern Romeo and Juliet of X-Men Evolution. There's Kitty Pryde - smart, perky and pretty - arriving at Bayville in a blaze of pink and attempts at popularity. She's incredibly gifted (except when it comes to cooking, which is a category of its own) and is the type of girl you'd expect to find enjoying life and dating a well-dressed prep kid. There's the slightly uncool factor that she's a mutant who can walk through walls, but you know, it's just the little things. Oh, and of course she's an X-man.
Enter Lance Alvers. Older than Kitty, he's the long-haired delinquent who can cause earthquakes... and chaos, naturally, along with his pals... who for some odd reason turn out to be the Brotherhood. And the Brotherhood, ladies and gentlemen, do not, suffice to say, get along with the X-men at all. They do silly things to each other like trying to kill each other, etc. You get the gist of it, don't you?
So why is there a fansite dedicated to such a wacky couple? Because, for some reason, Lance has a decidedly not-so-secret crush on the young Kitty. Who seems to sort of like him back. At least she accepts him while the other X-men don't. And besides, they look cute together.
So yes, that's the very abridged, probably incorribly incorrect version of how the basis of this site was established. I could be a teeny-tiny bit biased... but no, that couldn't be.
And back to some site information. Why is it called Rebel With a Cause? Because Lance has such an endearing rebellious quality to him. (You know, wrecking the school, causing earthquakes, etc) And despite being the bad-boy of Bayville, he softens whenever he's with Kitty. And if you stretch it somewhat, he does the things he does for Kitty. (Take Joyride for example. Would he join the X-men for... say, Logan? Right. Point made.)
