X23 returns in "Target X," the new episode of X-Men: Evolution scheduled to air on Saturday, Sept. 13 on Kids' WB!.

The episode will also feature X-Men: Evolution in its new time period of 11:30 a.m. (ET). Static Shock is going on hiatus, but will return for a fourth season.

The episode is written by Craig Kyle, who created X23, and Chris Yost.

"X23 thought by destroying Wolverine she could free herself from the life she was forced to live. She was wrong," Kyle told The Continuum in describing the episode.

"Now the ones who made her have come to take their property back!"

Greg Johnson, story editor of Kids' WB!'s X-Men: Evolution, provided The Continuum with information about two upcoming new episodes.

"Impact" will air on Saturday, Aug. 30. The episode was written by Johnson.

"A little time has passed since the X-Men's devastating defeat at the hands of Apocalypse," Johnson said. "The dust is starting to settle, but not the emotions. Rogue has a lot to deal with after being the vessel that brought Apocalypse back to power, and Magneto isÊobsessively driven to hunt downÊthis ancient mutant at all costs.

"We've taken some bold moves with this episode, the results of which will have a lasting impact on our characters, as well as the rest of the season. Look for some great direction and animation, and really superb music."

"No Good Deed..." will air on Saturday, Sept. 6. The episode has a story by Johnson, Craig Kyle and Boyd Kirkland and was written by William Forrest Cluverius.

"We felt it was time to step away from the Apocalypse storyline, and we knew we wanted to tell a Brotherhood focused story," Johnson said. "So a lot of ideas were tossed around untilÊwe finally came up with a great vehicle for them. When their selfish actions areÊmistaken by the public as being heroic, these guys deal with it as only the Brotherhood can. A very fun episode that also brings Kelly back into the mix."

Boyd Kirkland, producer of the X-Men: Evolution animated series, told The Continuum that pre-production on the fourth season is "progressing rapidly."

"We have recorded all nine shows, and are currently storyboarding the two-part finale," Kirkland told The Continuum on Monday from his Film Roman office. "Several of the shows are overseas in animation, and we should be getting footage back the end of July.

"We've got some really interesting stories, with pretty shocking developments for several of our key characters. Guest villains will include Omega Red, as well as more of Apocalypse. One episode focuses on the Brotherhood, and another focuses on Gambit. It's some really exciting stuff!"

Four episodes remain from Season 3. It was originally believed that Kids' WB! would broadcast them in conjunction with the release of X2, but the remaining episodes currently are not scheduled.

"I've heard rumors that the final four episodes of this season will be held until next fall, but nothing definite. The network isn't talking one way or the other," Kirkland said. "I understand that some of them have aired overseas already, however."

"We are putting the finishing touches on this week's episode, 'Self-Possessed,' and it looks awesome!" Kirkland told The Continuum. "Show # 39, 'Under Lock & Key,' also looks great, and is still being edited, as is #40, 'Cruise Control,' also a very fine-looking show.

"Under Lock & Key," a new episode of X-Men: Evolution, will air on Kids' WB! on Saturday, Nov. 30.

The episode -- written by Sean Roche and directed by Frank Paur - should be one of the most memorable of the third season.

"Here we gather the famed five of the original X-Men as introduced in the comics - Cyclops, Jean Gray, Beast, Iceman, and Angel - for a very specific mission that deals with... well, the title should clue you in," X-Men: Evolution story editor Greg Johnson told The Continuum.

"If the animation lives up to the script, this is going to be one very cool episode."

In other X-Men: Evolution news, a Kids' WB! representative told The Continuum that the network has not made any decisions for next season yet. Pending are a fourth season of X-Men: Evolution as well as possibly a rumored new Hulk animated series.

"X-Treme Measures," a new episode of X-Men: Evolution, airs this Saturday on Kids' WB!.

The episode has a story by Greg Johnson and Boyd Kirkland and was written by Jules Dennis and Johnson.

Johnson, the show's story editor, provided The Continuum with some insight into the episode, which focuses on Spyke.

"In this story, we get to explore some of the challenges Evan Daniels goes through as he matures," Johnson said. "After all, these X-Men are still teens, and as their bodies develop in surges, so do their powers. In a way, they're all struggling with this, but it hits Evan particularly hard.

"Fans can also expect to meet some other Morlocks, and learn a little bit about the kind of struggles they go through."

"Self Possessed" will air on Saturday, Nov. 16. It is written by Johnson.

Here's how Johnson describes the episode:

"The numerous personalities Rogue has absorbed over the years now start waging war for dominance within her. The ordeal cements a bond between her and one of the other X-Men."

In "Blind Alley," Mystique escapes Area 51 with one thing on her mind: vengeance against the person who locked her in there.

In "X-Treme Measures," Evan's mutation is becoming more and more difficult to control, and so is his temper. He finally finds solace and acceptance in a most unlikely place -- but at what cost?

A new episode of X-Men: Evolution, "The Stuff of Villains," will air this Saturday on Kids' WB!.

The episode is written by Adam Beechen and directed by Gary Graham.

"What I like about this episode is the shift in tone," X-Men: Evolution story editor Greg Johnson told The Continuum. "The previous three episodes have dealt with some fairly weighty issues, and it's time for a breather. The Brotherhood Boys have a pretty strong presence in this one, and whenever they're involved, humorously odd things tend to happen, with Toad stealing the show, once again.

"But I have the feeling most eyes will be on a certain Cajun fellow."

That "Cajun fellow," of course, is Gambit who was featured in promos for the episode and gets his most significant screen time in the episode. He also speaks for the first time.

Check back later on Friday here in The Continuum for screen grabs from the episode.

X-Men: Evolution DVD

The first DVD from the X-Men: Evolution animated series will arrive in stores next spring before the X-Men 2 movie reaches theaters, Marvel Studios' Craig Kyle told The Continuum.

The DVD, from Warner Home Video, follows two VHS tapes with episodes from the first season. The DVD, however, will feature the first five episodes from the second season of the Kids' WB! animated series.

Those episodes are "Growing Pains (originally aired Sept. 29, 2001), "Bada-Bing Bada-Boom!" (originally aired Oct. 6, 2001), "Power Surge" (originally aired Oct. 13, 2002); "Fun and Games" (originally aired Oct. 20, 2001), and "Beast of Bayville" (originally aired Oct. 27, 2001).

The episodes introduced the New Mutants, including Boom-Boom, to Xavier Institute, as well featuring the first appearances of Beast and Aracde.

Three the episodes on the DVD - "Growing Pains," "Bada-Bing, Bada-Boom!" and "Power Surge" - will be in their first-cut versions. After the events of Sept. 11, those three episodes of X-Men: Evolution were edited for content.

"The network - with good reason - wanted to be mindful of what was being shown to a young audience," Kyle said. "Now, you can see the episodes as they were originally intended."

Kyle and the creators of X-Men: Evolution appeared at a comics convention in Los Angeles on Sunday, where the cut scenes were shown for the first time. Include was a key moment in "Growing Pains" dealing with Kitty and Lance.

Kyle said the as-yet-untitled DVD could be the first in a series of take-homes.

"These are really strong episodes, and I think sales will justify more DVDs," Kyle said. "Bottom line, we want to get all of the episodes on DVD."
